1:Impact of Blackhole and Rushing Attack on the Location-Based Routing Protocol for Wireless Sensor Network

Abstract. Wireless sensor networks have millions of sensors, which cooperate with one on other in home automation, military surveillance, entity tracking systems and several other applications. In these networks, multicast is the basic routing service for efficient data broadcasting for task assignment, targeted queries and code updates. The sensor nodes have low computational capabilities, and are highly resource-constrained. So, the multicast routing protocols of wireless sensor networks are prone to various routing attacks, such as black hole, rushing, wormhole and denial of service attacks. The objective of this paper is to study the effects of the black hole and rushing attack on the location based Geographic multicast routing (GMR) protocol. The NS-2 based simulation is used in analyzing the black hole and rushing attacks on the GMR. The black hole and rushing attack degrades the network performance by 26% and 18% respectively.

01:Network Modelling of a Blackhole prevention mechanism in Mobile Ad-hoc Network

Abstract - Network Modelling is a useful working domain for generating an insight about the events occurring in a network. In today’s scenario, Network security is one of the most important concerns and Blackhole attack is one of them. Most of the proposed works for preventing Blackhole in MANET are being simulated through a network simulator for performance evaluation. But the result of simulating an algorithm may be different, depending on the selected tool, because of important divergence between simulators. These solutions are not validated in true sense and as a result an occurrence of an error would be a nightmare for the solution provider after deployment of the protocol. Thus in an alternative way, a formal model of any proposed solution should be needed for the verification and validation of the process. In this paper we have proposed a coloured Petri net model for an anti blackhole mechanism through coloured Petri net The proposed formal CPN model for blackhole preventing solution is being simulated through a CPN tool and analyzed to verify the necessary properties.
